For me, remembering I could fly meant I get to do the things I used to dream about: the life I’d written off as impossible becomes reality, when I remember I believe impossible things.

When I want to do something, I don’t immediately and unconsciously write it off as a daydream and let it go stale, or worse, add it to the pile of evidence I’d collected to prove that real life isn’t a fairytale. I used to, though. I’d take my desire and use it as proof that I couldn’t, shouldn’t, or would never get what I wanted.

Now, when I want to do something, I figure out how to make it happen.

8. You will remember what freedom feels like. I mean wind-through-your-hair-while-on-a-bicycle-before-helmets-were-even-a-thing-and-you-didn’t-know-how-dangerously-you-were-living freedom.
9. You will learn how your resilience works, where it came from, and then you will learn how to harness your drive for the power of good. Kind of like going to Hogwarts.
10. You will remember who you are. You will remember who you want to be. You will make them the same thing.
11. You remember how you wanted the world to be, and how you wanted your life to be. You will start to make it happen.
12. You will stop waiting for your life to begin.
13. You will stop waiting for adventure to knock on your door.
14. You will stop ignoring Adventure when it does come knocking on your door.
15. You will start saying yes to things. You will start saying no things you are not looking for. The things you choose will be important, young Jedi.
16. You will stop feeling ashamed of believing in magic and impossible things. You will become an inspiration to people around you.
17. You will stop giving so many shits about what people think about you.
18. You will stop trying to turn yourself inside out, trying to please people.
19. You will stop playing small.
20. You will stop waiting until you know you can do it right, perfectly.
21. You will stop waiting until you know it will all work out.
22. You will stop feeling afraid of everything. You realize you are not running from lions and tigers and bears, oh my.
23. You will stop letting your fears stop you.
24. You will do it anyway.
25. You will stop living for others, and live for yourself instead. And then you learn that living for yourself is the best thing you can do for others.
26. Desire will stop being a discomfort. You learn how to let your desire become a force for possibility and the fuel to create a life you love, rather than living a flat-line life, because it felt easier to give up on what you wanted than feel all that wanting.
27. You will realize that good enough will never be enough for you, and that it’s a blessing, not a curse. You aren’t greedy or selfish. Your desire and possibility is not a character flaw.
